Credible information available to Whispers Media Network indicates that, JoyNews’ Emefa Apawu, has been penciled down for the Communications Specialist role of Ghana Digital Acceleration Project (GDAP).
A source familiar with the matter confirmed that though the position was advertised and applications have been submitted, Emefa Apawu has been given the job even before the interview is conducted.
“She is being rewarded for what she did for the NDC on ‘The Probe’ show and other programs she hosted on JoyNews. As for the applications, they are playing no role in who gets the offer. Emefa has the job already. Mark this somewhere” he stated.
Whispers Media Network has sighted the application written by Emefa Apawu for the Communications Specialist job at the Communications Ministry, confirming the fact that the media personality is being rewarded for her anti-NPP stance between 2017 and 2024.
The World Bank, it was reported a few days ago, has suspended two $200 million projects in Ghana due to improper dismissal of personnel, jeopardizing critical development initiatives amid the country’s financial strain.
Two major World Bank-funded projects, a $200 million Tree Crops Diversification Project and another $200 million Ghana Digital Acceleration Project (GDAP), have been suspended following the dismissal of key personnel by the new government. The terminations, carried out without adherence to World Bank protocols, have raised concerns about the future of these initiatives.
The GDAP initiative is designed to expand broadband access, improve digital public services, and strengthen Ghana’s digital innovation ecosystem to drive job creation and economic growth.
Emefa Apawu is replacing one of the dismissed employees the World Bank has criticized the government for.
Though sector minister Samuel Nartey George was warned against making personnel changes without following due process, the dismissals proceeded.
Experts familiar with World Bank operations stress that Ghana must remedy these procedural breaches by conducting proper contract terminations and follow an open and competitive recruitment process before the projects can resume.
