Information reaching Whispers Media Network from an insider indicates that members of the Council of State were paid huge sums of money to influence their voting against the Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo.
In a conversation with WMN, the informant who wants to remain anonymous indicated that each Council of State member except one was bribed to vote to suspend the Chief Justice.
“Though partisanship played a key role in the decision to vote to suspend the CJ, monetary inducements also played a role” he told WMN.
“With the exception of the former CJ Sophia Akuffo, each of the other Council of State members was paid $200,000 before voting” he stated.
He also said that the council members reached an MOU with the reps of the Mahama government to give them juicy contracts for ensuring that the CJ is suspended.
“There was also a tacit agreement with the reps of the President that each member of the Council of State would be given juicy contracts on the coming months after successfully ensuring that the CJ has been removed” he added.
He also stated that Sophia Akuffo was not part of meetings held between the President and some council members prior to the voting.
“The President met Doe Adjaho and some council members over this issue. Sophia Akuffo was not invited for her principled position because they knew she would let the cat out of the bag if she was invited” he further alleged.
“Sophia Akuffo’s disagreement with them stems from the fact that removing the CJ would destroy the principle of separation of powers. She abstained from voting because of this” he indicated.
Mahama, WMN can state emphatically, will announce a successor to Gertrude Torkornoo tomorrow until a committee to be set up is done with looking into the charges against her.
