The Minister of Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, has given credence to the accusation by many Ghanaians to the effect that the Mahama administration is filled with family and friends.
A memorandum sighted by Whispers Media Network indicates the appointments of Ato Forson’s brother, Evans Forson as Executive Assistant.
The Finance Minister has also appointed Raymond Acquah as Technical Advisor, Strategic Communications.
Raymond Acquah, who hitherto was an employee of Kwesi Twum’s Multimedia outfit, Joy FM, has long been suspected to have been the one in charge of Ato Forson’s social media accounts, an assertion he had consistently denied vehemently.
The appointments of Masawudu Mahama as the Executive Secretary and Dr. Grace Fidelia Anansewa Annan as Personal Secretary to the same Minister Ato Forson have also raised concerns about a possible duplication of duties by the two in the same office.
Scores of people who have seen these appointments have raised concerns about the financial impact of these appointments on the nation’s coffers.
They cannot find any reasonable justification for these mass appointments to the ministry under a regime that touts itself for running the leanest administration in Ghana’s recent history.
Questions are being asked about why President Mahama would promise a lean government but has allowed all these appointments to be made by the sector minister. The lean government, from all indications, was a mere promise.
